Hi!
I am Ms. Kreenah, your music teacher! As a member of the National Association for Music Education, I adhere to the National Music Standards of Creating, Performing, Responding and Connecting through music! These standards are outlined by the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards established in 2014, and further reflected in the Michigan Merit Curriculum Music Standards, Benchmarks and grade level content expectations of 2011.

I have taught and performed music of many genres and in many venues and settings since 1988. Specializing in piano, clarinet, guitar and voice, I have provided private lessons, solo & ensemble coaching, section rehearsals, and guest teaching in local schools. Performing as soloist and in various ensembles over the years provided me joy.

Since Spring of 2020, when COVID-19 closed our schools, I have had to transfer my teaching experiences to Zoom platform. I recognize that Arts Education is essential, and that there is a greater need for access to Music Education from home. In response to that need, I have developed my class series: Elements of Music.
I would like to offer the first class: RHYTHM totally free! Sign up below!

This five class series covers these elements of music:

RHYTHM: We learn what beat, tempo, and rhythm are through listening and responding to music, creating our own patterns with body percussion and homemade instruments, and performing together.
PITCH: we learn the science of sound waves, what Intervals, Octaves and Range of instruments  are. More experiments in making our own pitched instruments, too!.
DYNAMICS: We perform interest-creating loud, soft, constant change in music with our instruments (homemade or store bought!) while listening and responding to famous dynamic examples in the music world
CHORDS & SCALES I The foundations of all music. How they are constructed and used in music everyday.
CHORDS & SCALES II: Explore the tonality of Western Major, minor and modal music, along with an introduction to other systems of tonality in the world.
